Christmas Date Nut Loaf - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. English walnuts, shelled
1 lb. dates, pitted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, separated
2 Tbsp. water
Preparation

Leave dates and nuts whole.
Sift flour, sugar and baking powder together.
Sprinkle on dates and nuts.
Mix with hands to cover dates and nuts.
Add water to egg whites and beat until very stiff.
Add egg yolks to dry mixture.
Add vanilla and fold in egg whites and mix well.
Line loaf pan with brown paper.
Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
Test for doneness after 45 minutes.
Serve plain or with vanilla ice cream.
Will keep for weeks.
