Old-Fashioned Dark Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. sour milk (1 c. fresh milk plus 1 Tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar)
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. cocoa
2/3 c. boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Blend shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly.
Add sour milk alternately with combined flour, salt and soda.
Stir cocoa into water until dissolved.
Add to batter and mix well.
Stir in vanilla.
Pour into prepared pans (use either 9 or 10-inch tube or three 8-inch layers).
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour and 10 minutes for tube or 35 to 40 minutes for layer pans.
