Homecoming Cornmeal Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 egg, well beaten
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
2 Tbsp. soft shortening
1/4 c. flour
2 Tbsp. green label molasses
3/4 c. cornmeal (yellow)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Heat black cast-iron frypan (spider) while mixing batter. Beat ingredients until smooth.
Grease pan or use oil.
Serve topped with warm applesauce, syrup or butter and sugar.
These pancakes raise nicely while \"baking\" atop the stove.
