Sassafras Rice Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 c. cooked rice (I prefer brown rice)
    1/2 lb. smoked Cheddar, grated
    1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
    1 c. peas
    1/2 to 1 tsp. minced garlic
    1/2 c. evaporated milk, or less as needed
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Combine all ingredients except milk. Place in a 9 x 9-inch baking dish and pour milk around the sides of the dish.
    Bake 20 to 30 minutes until brown at edges.
    May top with cayenne or paprika to taste.
