Famous Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/4 c. shortening (soft)
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
3 c. oatmeal, uncooked

Preparation

Beat shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla together until creamy.
Sift together flour, salt and soda.
Add to creamed mixture.
Blend well.
Stir in oatmeal. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake in preheated moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
