Orange Slice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. sifted flour (plain)
    1 tsp. salt
    1 lb. orange slice candy, diced
    1 (8 oz.) pitted dates, chopped
    1 c. margarine or Crisco
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 1/4 oz. or 1 can flaked coconut
    2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation
    Sift together flour and salt.
    Combine candy, nuts and coconut.
    Add 1/2 of the flour mixture.
    Cream margarine until light.
    Gradually add sugar; beat well.
    Add eggs, one at a time; beat after each one.
    Combine soda and buttermilk.
    Add alternately with flour mixture.
    Add candy mixture and mix well. Bake in large tube pan.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
