Whipped Shortbread - cooking recipe

3 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar, sifted
4 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. cornstarch
nonpareils and/or halved candied cherries
Preparation

Using a heavy-duty mixer, beat butter on medium speed until light and fluffy.
Gradually add dry ingredients, beating constantly, until well blended.
