Bride'S Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. flour
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. milk or water
    2 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preparation
    Sift flour and baking powder 3 times.
    Cream butter and sugar. Add flour alternately with milk.
    Beat after each addition.
    Add vanilla.
    Fold in egg whites.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 50 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
