Connecticut Beef Supper - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. beef stew meat
salt and pepper
2 large onions, sliced
2 Tbsp. oil
1 (4 1/2 oz.) jar whole mushrooms
5 medium potatoes, pared and thinly sliced
1 can cream of mushroom soup
3/4 c. milk
3/4 c. sour cream
2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
cracker crumbs (optional)
Preparation

Season meat with salt and pepper.
Cook and stir meat and onions in large skillet over medium heat until meat is brown and onions are tender; pour off excess oil.
Drain mushrooms; reserve liquid.
Add enough water to liquid to make 1 cup.
Stir liquid and mushrooms into meat and onions.
Heat to boiling; reduce heat and cover.
Simmer for 2 hours.
