Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sifted plain flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 c. raisins
1 Tbsp. caraway seed
2/3 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
Combine dry ingredients and sift into medium-large mixing bowl.
Cut butter or margarine into chunks and cut into dry mixture with pastry blender until mixture is size of peas.
Mix in raisins and caraway seed; add milk and egg all at once.
Stir with fork until just blended.
Turn into greased pie plate, mounding in center; with sharp knife, make four slashes in shape of cross.
Bake 30 minutes or until browned on top.
Great with a cup of strong, hot tea on a gray day!
