Pear Honey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. white sugar
    8 lb. pears
    1 large can crushed pineapple
Preparation
    Put pears in a heavy kettle or canner with tight-fitting lid. Pour sugar and pineapple over pears and set overnight to form juice.
    Bring to a slow boil and cook for 3 hours.
    Don't open lid or stir during the entire cooking period.
    Put through strainer. Put back in kettle and bring to boil, then put in jars.
