Sour Cream Coconut Cake - cooking recipe

1 (18 1/2 oz.) box yellow or white cake mix
2 c. granulated sugar
1 (16 oz.) carton sour cream
18 oz. frozen coconut
1 small container Cool Whip
Preparation

Mix and bake cake according to package directions, using two 8-inch pans.
When cake is cool, split the 2 layers into 4.
