Ham-Vegetable Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    4 Tbsp. flour
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. diced carrots
    2 parsnips, peeled and diced (if desired)
    2 c. potatoes, peeled and diced
    2 c. ham, chopped or flaked
    6 c. water or soup stock
    salt and pepper to taste
    chopped parsley
    Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Melt butter in large soup pot.
    Add onion and celery.
    Saute until tender.
    Add flour, mix well.
    Cook about 3 minutes.
    Add water or stock, other vegetables and ham.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat to a simmer.
    Stir occasionally, about 30 minutes or until vegetables are done.
