Old-Fashioned Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. sweet milk
    2 large eggs
    5 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 small box instant pudding mix (3.4 oz.)
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream the butter and sugar together; add eggs.
    Blend well. Mix all dry ingredients.
    Add 1/2 of flour mixture to sugar, butter and egg mixture.
    Mix until smooth.
    Add milk, gradually, and vanilla.
    Mix until batter is smooth.
    Add remaining flour mixture and mix until smooth.
