Scotchies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. flour (unsifted)
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 to 1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. coconut
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients.
Cream shortening and add sugar gradually.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
Stir in flour mixture, oats, nuts and coconut.
Roll in balls or drop from spoon.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes and remove from pan immediately.
Makes 4 dozen.
