8-Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head lettuce
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped green pepper or cauliflower
    1 c. chopped sweet onion
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas
    1 pt. salad dressing or less
    2 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. sugar
    1 c. grated sharp cheese
    1/3 lb. bacon, fried crisp and drained
Preparation
    Layer as follows:
    Tear lettuce in small pieces and put in 3-quart oblong dish.
    Add celery, pepper, onion and peas.
    Spread thin layer of salad dressing over all.
    Then spread balance of salad dressing.
    Top with sugar, then grated cheese.
    Finish with bacon bits.
    Cover tightly with Saran Wrap and refrigerate overnight.
    Serves at least 12 people.
