Whole Wheat Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 to 3 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 3/4 c. water
1/3 c. brown sugar
3 Tbsp. shortening
2 c. whole wheat flour
Preparation

In large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of the flour and the yeast.
Heat water, brown sugar, shortening and 2 teaspoons salt until just warm, stirring constantly, until shortening just melts. Add to dry
mixture.
Beat on low for 1/2 minute.
Beat 3 minutes on high.
Stir in whole wheat flour and enough of remaining flour to make dough.
Knead until smooth.
Shape into ball.
Place in greased bowl; turn once.
Cover; let rise until double, 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down; turn onto floured surface.
Divide in half. Cover; let rest 10 minutes.
Shape into loaves.
Place in two greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pans.
Cover; let rise 1 1/4 hours.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
If top browns too quickly, cover with tent of foil for last 20 minutes.
