Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. milk or cream
2 tsp. vanilla or lemon flavoring
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Mix shortening, butter, sugar and eggs thoroughly.
Stir in milk and flavoring.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Then stir into sugar mixture.
Chill dough.
Roll thin and cut into desired shapes.
Place on lightly greased baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 425\u00b0 for 5 to 7 minutes or until delicately browned.
Yields 10 dozen cookies.
