Ingredients

1 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. molasses
1 Tbsp. vinegar
2 Tbsp. boiling water
1/2 c. butter
Preparation

Stir ingredients together and cook without stirring to the hard-crack stage (dropped from a spoon into ice cold water and breaks between fingers when cool).
Turn into a large buttered baking sheet, making a thin layer.
When partly cooled, mark in squares or when cold, break in pieces with handle of knife.
