New England Boiled Dinner - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 lb. canned beef brisket
    2 1/2 qt. boiling water
    6 white turnips, pared
    6 medium carrots, pared
    3 parsnips, pared and quartered
    6 potatoes, pared
    1 head cabbage
Preparation
    In a large pot, cover meat with cold water.
    Bring to boiling. Reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer 2 hours.
    Add boiling water, then turnips and carrots.
    Cook 15 minutes.
    Add parsnips.
    Cook 15 minutes.
    Add cabbage and cook 25 minutes longer.
