Puffy Corn Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/3 c. flour
    1 1/3 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2/3 c. milk
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 can whole kernel corn, well drained
    oil (for deep frying)
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
    Blend milk with egg.
    Add gradually to dry ingredients.
    Stir in corn and drop from tablespoon into deep fat, heated to 375\u00b0.
    Fry until golden brown, 4 to 8 minutes, depending upon the size.
    Drain on absorbent towel and serve.
    Makes 16 to 18 fritters.
