Icebox Muffins - cooking recipe
Ingredients

5 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 2 c. boiling water
1 qt. buttermilk
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 pkg. All Bran
2 c. (40%) Bran Flakes
buttermilk mixture
5 c. flour
Preparation

Set aside soda water and buttermilk.
Cream together shortening and sugar.
Add and beat in eggs, one at a time.
Add and alternate All Bran, Bran flakes, buttermilk mixture and flour. Begin and end with dry ingredients.
Add dates, nuts or raisins if desired (I do!!).
Set aside at least 24 hours (1 week best) in refrigerator.
Can be kept in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
Bake in 400\u00b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
