Pineapple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    3/4 c. juice or water
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream shortening.
    Add sugar.
    Gradually add beaten eggs.
    Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with cold water or juice and add vanilla.
    Grease pan with butter.
    Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups brown sugar with 4 teaspoons butter.
    Arrange 4 slices of pineapple on top of sugar.
    Place a cherry in center of each pineapple.
    Pour on batter.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven until toothpick comes out clean.
    Turn over on platter.
