Cheese Sticks - cooking recipe

2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
4 to 6 Tbsp. water
melted butter
1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation

Sift flour and salt together. Cut or rub in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle with water, mixing lightly until dough begins to stick together. Turn out on a lightly-floured board or pastry cloth. Press dough together and roll to a 12 x 18-inch rectangle. Brush with butter; sprinkle with cheese. Carefully fold 1/3 of the pastry over the center 1/3, then fold remaining 1/3 of pastry over center portion, making a 4 x 18-inch rectangle. Cut into strips about 3/4-inch wide. Arrange on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in 400\u00b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
