Ingredients

1 yeast cake
1 c. lukewarm water
1 c. scalded milk, cooled
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening (not melted)
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
2 lb. flour
Preparation

Soak yeast in lukewarm water.
Scald milk and let it cool. Combine dry ingredients; add milk, water and yeast.
Work in enough flour to make a soft dough.
Let rise.
Roll out, cut and let rise.
Fry, top side down (first).
