Dottie Atkinson'S French Mints - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box xxxx sugar
    1/2 stick butter
    1/2 tsp. pure peppermint extract or 12 drops oil flavoring
    2 Tbsp. hot water
    8 drops food coloring (depending on desired color)
Preparation
    Sift
    sugar.
    Cream the butter and sugar together.
    Add water, flavoring
    and
    food color and mix well by hand.
    Roll into marble
    size balls and dip in fine sugar.
    Press sugared ball down in mold.
    Remove any excess mixture to make it even with
    the mold and unmold by putting a finger on all 4 corners of
    the
    mold with
    your
    thumb
    on
    the back of the mold and turning out on wax paper.
