Sweet-Sour Green Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. green beans
    3 medium onions, thinly sliced
    3 Tbsp. salad oil
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2/3 c. water
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 c. vinegar
    1 2/3 c. sugar
Preparation
    Cut off tips of beans; leave whole.
    Separate onions into rings.
    Cook beans in boiling water until tender.
    Drain.
    Combine beans and onion rings in a large bowl.
    Stir the remaining ingredients together.
    Pour over beans.
    Refrigerate at least 24 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Makes 2 1/2 quarts (14 cups).
