English Toffee - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate (8 oz.)
2 pkg. German chocolate
8 oz. chopped almonds, toasted (carefully)
Preparation

Lightly butter an 11 x 15-inch sheet.
Combine butter and sugar in a 4-quart saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, beating hard until mixture boils.
Cover with tight lid; cook 3 minutes. Remove lid and stir occasionally until it reaches 290\u00b0 on a candy thermometer.
Add about 1/4 cup of the toasted almonds.
Pour into a buttered pan; set on flat surface to cool 30 minutes. Refrigerate 15 minutes while chocolate melts (either over boiling water in double boiler or in microwave oven).
