Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cans chopped clams
    1 c. onion, finely chopped
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 c. celery, chopped
    2 c. potatoes, diced
    3/4 c. margarine
    3/4 c. flour
    1 qt. half and half
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    dash of pepper
Preparation
    Drain clams; set aside, retaining liquid.
    Brown onion in oil. Add vegetables; barely cover with water.
    Add clam juice.
    Simmer until tender.
    In a 5-quart saucepan, melt margarine.
    Add flour, then half and half to make a white sauce.
    Add clams, vegetables in their broths and seasonings.
    Simmer.
