Waldorf-Astoria Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. salt
    2 1/4 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. red food coloring
    2 tsp. cocoa
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Make a paste of food coloring and cocoa and add to mixture.
    Add buttermilk with salt alternately with flour.
    Add vanilla.
    Lastly, add baking soda and vinegar.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 30 minutes in 2 (9-inch) cake pans. Cool completely before frosting.
