Picadillo(Ernest Hemingway'S Recipe, Finca Vigia, Cuba) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raisins
    1/2 c. hot beef broth
    2 Tbsp. oil
    2 lb. lean ground beef
    2 c. red wine
    3/4 c. chopped green onions
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 green peppers, chopped
    3/4 c. slivered toasted almonds
    hot cooked rice
Preparation
    Soak raisins in hot broth for 10 minutes or until plump. Drain.
    Heat oil in large skillet and quickly brown beef, 3 to 5 minutes.
    Add wine, onion, salt, garlic, oregano, cloves and pepper.
    Simmer 15 minutes.
    Stir in green pepper.
    Cook 5 minutes longer.
    Stir in almonds and raisins.
    Serve over rice.
    Makes 8 servings.
    Omit salt if wanted.
