Never Fail Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 to 3 lb. stew beef
    flour
    oil or shortening
    3 stalks celery, sliced
    4 large carrots, sliced
    2 to 3 medium onions, quartered
    3 large potatoes, cubed
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. tomato juice
Preparation
    Salt and pepper beef to taste and roll in flour.
    Brown in a skillet with oil or shortening; drain.
    Place beef in a casserole dish with the vegetables.
