Borsch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. meaty beef shank
    8 to 10 beets, shredded
    1/2 head red cabbage, shredded
    1 c. onion, diced
    1 c. carrots, shredded
    1 c. potatoes, shredded (optional)
    dry dill to taste (about 1 tsp.)
    2 toes garlic, crushed
Preparation
    Cook beef shank down. Discard bone; dice meat. Add beets, cabbage, onion, carrots, potatoes, dill and garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste.
