Basic Sweet Dough - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. granulated sugar
1 1/4 oz. salt
1/2 can (14 1/2 oz. size) evaporated milk
1/3 lb. yeast
1 lb. shortening
8 eggs, beaten
3/4 qt. water
vanilla
4 lb. sifted flour
Preparation

Combine sugar, shortening and salt.
Mix thoroughly.
Add beaten eggs.
Mix milk and water; scald.
Cool to 80\u00b0.
Add yeast and vanilla; stir until well mixed.
Add to egg mixture.
Add flour; mix thoroughly.
Place dough in warm place (80\u00b0).
Allow to rise 2 hours or until double in bulk.
Punch down; allow to rise 15 minutes more.
