Grandma'S Red Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    2 tsp. cocoa
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    2 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Make a paste of the cocoa and
    food coloring. Add to the creamed mixture with the flour, salt, buttermilk, then flavoring.
    Dissolve soda in vinegar and fold into mixture.
    Pour into two 8 or 9-inch cake pans and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 or 40 minutes.
    Cool.
