Surkal(Sweet And Sour Red Cabbage) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. red cabbage
1 Tbsp. oleo
1 to 2 apples, peeled and cut in wedges
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 c. broth or water
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. caraway seed
2 to 3 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation

Remove core from cabbage and cut into fine strips.
Put oleo in pan.
Layer cabbage and apples with flour, caraway seed and salt.
Pour cold liquid over. Boil over low heat while tightly covered. Stir now and then. Add more water if necessary. Season to taste with vinegar and sugar.
Approximate cooking time, 1 to 2 hours.
