Sliced Zucchini Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. thinly sliced zucchini (unpared)
    1 qt. thinly sliced onion
    1/2 c. pickling salt
    6 c. cider vinegar
    3 c. sugar
    2 tsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. ground turmeric
    1 tsp. ground mustard
Preparation
    Combine zucchini, onion and salt.
    Cover with ice and let stand 3 hours.
    If needed, add more ice.
    Drain thoroughly. Combine vinegar, sugar, celery seed, turmeric and mustard in large pan.
    Bring to boil.
    Add drained vegetables.
    Return to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes.
    Ladle into hot jars.
    Process in boiling water for 5 minutes.
    Makes 6 pints.
