Spice Muffins - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sifted enriched flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 c melted shortening
1/4 c. brown sugar for topping
Preparation

Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and nutmeg. Beat egg and add sugar.
Stir well.
Add buttermilk and shortening. Add to flour mixture, stirring only until flour is moistened.
Fill greased muffin pans 1/2 full.
Brush tops of muffins with milk and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake at 425\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
