Shoofly Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 c. table syrup
    1 c. hot water
    1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in a little of the hot water
Preparation
    Mix into crumbs the flour, brown sugar and shortening.
    Keep out 1/2 cup crumbs to sprinkle on top of pie.
    Combine remaining crumbs with the egg, table syrup, hot water and baking soda.
    Pour this into unbaked 9-inch pie shell.
    Sprinkle crumbs on top.
    Bake in 375\u00b0 oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
