Northern Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. (1 1/4 c.) Michigan pea beans
    water
    1 1/2 c. onion, minced
    1 1/2 c. diced celery
    3 large cloves garlic, crushed and diced
    3 minced carrots
    1 jar Classico sauce
    1 1/2 qt. chicken broth
    1/8 tsp. cumin
    salt and white pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash and soak beans overnight in cold water.
    Next day, drain and cook in 1 1/2 quarts water until tender.
    Drain again.
