Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    3 c. sugar
    6 eggs, separated
    2 oz. lemon extract
    5 c. flour
    1 lb. white raisins
    1 qt. pecans
    1 lb. candied pineapple
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. soda
    1 lb. candied cherries
    2 Tbsp. warm water
Preparation
    Cream butter, egg yolks and sugar well.
    Add lemon extract. Mix pecans and fruit with 2 cups sifted flour in a large pan. Blend in remaining 3 cups of flour to butter and sugar mixture. Add soda which has been mixed with warm water.
    Mix well, then add fruit and nuts.
    Add slightly beaten egg whites.
    Pour into 3 greased loaf pans.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 for 3 hours.
    Place a pan of water under cake while baking to prevent burning.
