Mrs. Irene'S Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
4 eggs, separated
1 pkg. raisins
3 big apples, cut finely
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. nut meats
1/2 c. wine
1/2 lb. citron or watermelon rind
2 tsp. baking powder (if plain flour is used)

Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg yolks; beat until light.
Add flour to which has been added the spices, then add stiffly beaten egg whites, raisins, nuts and other fruits.
Bake very slowly as fruit cake.
