Elva Dexter'S Cranberry Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can mandarin oranges or pineapple tidbits
    1 pkg. cherry flavored jello
    1 c. jellied cranberry sauce
    1/4 c. lemon juice
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream-style cottage cheese
    1/2 c. thinly sliced celery
    1/2 c. broken nut meats
Preparation
    Drain syrup from fruit into 1-cup measure; add water to make one cup.
    Heat to boiling in small saucepan.
    Stir in gelatin and stir until gelatin dissolves.
    Beat in cranberry sauce and add lemon juice.
    Chill until thick as unbeaten egg white.
    Stir in oranges, cottage cheese, celery and nuts.
    Spoon into 6-cup mold. Chill several hours or overnight.
