Hamburger Cheese Bake - cooking recipe

2 lb. ground round
1 large onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce or 1 (15 oz.) can
1 tsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic salt (more if needed to suit taste)
1 tsp. crushed red pepper (optional)
jalapenos (optional)
12 oz. medium egg noodles, use little over 3/4 of bag
1 c. cottage cheese
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. sour cream
1 c. chopped green onion
8 oz. Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
Preparation

Brown beef, onion and green pepper in skillet.
Drain off fat. Stir in next 6 ingredients (let simmer).
Cook noodles.
In separate bowl, mix the cream cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese and green onion.
Use 9 x 13-inch dish.
Layer half of noodles (on bottom), half of ground beef mixture and all of cream cheese mixture.
Put on rest of noodles, and rest of ground beef (in order listed).
Put shredded Monterey Jack cheese on top.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes (if cold, bake for 45 minutes).
Bake 20 minutes covered with aluminum foil and 10 minutes uncovered.
