Petticoat Tails - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft margarine
    1 tsp. flavoring (vanilla, lemon or your choice)
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 c. sifted confectioners sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix together well butter, sugar and flavoring.
    Sift together and stir in flour and salt; mix thoroughly with hands.
    Press and mold in long smooth roll about 2 inches in diameter.
    Wrap in waxed paper and chill until stiff (several hours or overnight in refrigerator).
    With thin sharp knife, cut in thin slices and place a little apart in baking pan or ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until lightly brown in 400\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
    You may add chocolate chips or nuts or peanut butter and they keep so long.
    They are very good.
