Pear Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. pears (peeled and sliced)
    6 c. sugar
Preparation
    Peel pears at night and put sugar over them (no water). Do not
    stir.\tNext morning there will be plenty of water and juice to\tcook
    them.
    Let
    them cook slowly for a long time, until they turn pink or dark, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
    Put into hot jars and seal.
