Aunt Marty'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/4 c. shortening or butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. buttermilk
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg; mix well.
Sift cocoa, flour, salt and soda.
Add alternately with buttermilk; mix well. Add vanilla.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until done in 8 or 9-inch square pan. Let cool and frost (frost and serve in pan).
