Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. sliced cucumbers (1/4 inch thick)
    3 c. house lime
    2 gal. water
    5 lb. sugar
    3 pt. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. cloves and allspice
Preparation
    Dissolve
    lime\tin water, pour in sliced cucumbers, let stand 24 hours.
    Wash
    in clean water.
    Let cucumbers stand in water for 3 hours.
    Change
    water every hour.
    Rinse and drain well, make a syrup
    with
    sugar, vinegar and spices;
    bring to boil and cool. Put
    cucumbers in
    syrup, let stand overnight. Next day, heat and come
    to
    a
    bubbling
    point.
    Don't boil. Seal in hot jars.
