Tavern Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. each: chopped celery, carrot, green pepper and onion
    3 (13 3/4 oz.) cans chicken broth
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/3 c. flour
    3 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    1 (12 oz.) can beer (at room temperature)
Preparation
    Combine vegetables in slow cooking pot.
    Add broth, butter, salt and pepper.
    Cover and cook on low 5 to 6 hours.
