Lemon Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. creamery butter
    1 lb. chopped pecans
    6 eggs, separated
    3 c. sifted flour
    1 lb. sugar
    1 lb. chopped dates
    2 oz. lemon extract
    1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1 Tbsp. warm water
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter. Add egg yolks, flour, extract and soda. Mix 3 or 4 minutes on medium speed. Add dates and pecans. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 hours and 45 minutes to 3 hours in a stem pan lined with brown paper. White raisins may be substituted for dates.
